The second stamp in a series created from previously issued Guernsey and Alderney stamps and mini sheets, and depicting elements of sustainable forest management, has been released by Guernsey Post (4 April 2022).
Guernsey’s ‘Heart of the Forest’ quartet stamp series has been created by Gail Armstrong, an award-winning paper sculptor and illustrator who produces three-dimensional works of art from flat sheets of paper.
The stamp theme takes its inspiration from Love Paper, a global campaign which promotes the sustainable and attractive attributes of print, paper, and paper packaging.
Bridget Yabsley, head of philatelic at Guernsey Post, said: – “To highlight the work of the Love Paper campaign, Gail has used Guernsey and Alderney stamps and miniature sheets, which she has moulded and shaped to depict elements of sustainable forest management. The result is a series of beautiful three-dimensional paper cut images, with the second stamp depicting a butterfly and forest.
“With each of the four stamps being priced at £1.00, our quartet series is a great introduction for those who are new to philately, enabling them to collect a complete series for an affordable price.
“We are absolutely delighted with the stamps which, when presented in the souvenir sheet product, bring the heart of the forest together,” Bridget added.
The first and second stamps in the quartet series are available to purchase now at www.guernseystamps.com, or by calling Philatelic Customer Services on +44 (0) 1481 716486.
