Fruit varieties as a cultural asset

“Bongerten”or fruit gardens are a typical element of the cultural landscape of Luxembourg. There is hardly another habitat in which nature conservation and land use are so ideally combined. In addition to many species of

animals and plants, they are also home to another cultural treasure: a myriad of different fruit varieties. According to estimates Luxembourg’s “Bongerten” contain around 600 regional fruit varieties.

These stamp sheets are available at the ATMs of Post Luxembourg. This explains their small size and the exceptional thinness of the paper. Post Luxembourg is one of the few stamp issuers able to offer this service.
